HELPING BABIES BREATHE

One of the most important factors in keeping newborn mortality low is a staff skilled in newborn resuscitation. Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) is a trademarked program designed by the American Academy of Pediatrics for use in low-resource settings. Unlike other facilities in the region, all labor and delivery nurses and midwives at TSMP are proficient in HBB. It is extremely effective. While newborn mortality is 30/1000 in rural Uganda, it's 6/1000 at TSMP.
