There is less than one doctor per 10,000 people in Uganda according to WHO, but in northern Uganda, the numbers are much worse. Due to the high migration rate, poor living conditions and lack of solid health infrastructure, there are practically no health professionals in the region. IMA has helped pay tuition for staff at TSMP to continue their training and advance their skills. We have paid for medical school, nursing school, trainings on Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission for HIV/AIDS and more. This capacity building in the Teso region is critical to increasing the number of healthcare professionals available to save lives. For $170, you can help someone become a doctor, nurse or midwife. |
