Nearly 500 Ugandan women per 100,000 die during childbirth, mostly due to preventable complications or easily manageable illnesses. International Midwife Assistance reduces the high maternal mortality rate in northern Uganda by providing comprehensive treatment for expectant mothers. These services include all prenatal appointments, vaccines, nutritional supplements, mosquito nets, family planning education and birth control, and antenatal and post partum treatments. We also provide HIV/AIDS testing, counseling and treatment, as well as emergency transportation to the regional hospital if needed.
